Great question. I'm pleased you asked.

For many people, being photographed is not something that comes naturally to them or that they necessarily enjoy. It's a vulnerable position, being in front of the lens. I get it. That's why, above all else, I prioritise building relationships with my clients throughout the design and consultation process. It gives us a chance to get to know each other and establish trust. It gives me time to build a picture in my mind of what you want before the session even takes place so I can deliver a product you adore. I can get a sense of your style, design aesthetic and what makes your family tick. Throughout the process I'm completely transparent and happy to troubleshoot with you anything you may see as a barrier to a successful session. I'm here to serve you and put your mind at ease.

Don't have matching outfits? No problem. That's not something you'll see my family in either. I want you to feel your greatest so that you can relax in front of the camera and that will make you look your greatest too. That's the secret sauce! Feel great, look great! If that means you show up in all black or a whole rainbow of bright colours and loud prints, or a high contrast graphic tee or your kid is in that costume they won't take off even for a wash, that's okay! We can work with that.

Whilst I absolutely believe you should select your outfits with the overall vibe you hope to achieve with your finished artwork in mind (and I have some tips and tricks to make that happen), I would never expect or suggest everyone being all matchy. Unless that's how you roll day to day? Then by all means. You do you!

I urge you to imagine receiving your finished artwork. Ask yourself; is this how I want to be captured? Is this what I see when I close my eyes and imagine us, now? If the clothes you are wearing and the expressions on your faces are a true representation of how you show up in the world, mission accomplished! And, let's be practical, if that bright tutu or faded superhero costume really bothers you that much, we can always print in black and white. Don't worry, I've gotcha!

What makes me different to most photographers is I prioritise your experience of the whole process. I have zero interest in curating an Instagram account that is all muted tones and uses the same neutral backdrops. A client wardrobe is not something that I will ever offer. Trends and fads come and go in any industry. Photography is no different. With me, your session and the images we capture are about you. I'm a no nonsense kinda girl and that's the way I approach my work. I do not apply generic filters. All images are lightly retouched and hand edited to ensure they still look and feel like you - the best version of you.

I believe everyone deserves to be seen, valued, celebrated and documented as their most authentic self. Everyone is welcome here. If your family looks different to most - amazing! If your 'babies' have scales, feathers or fur - awesome! If you've been waiting to shed a few kilos or tone up or let that regrettable haircut grow out a bit more - you are perfect just as you are! If you want to take the day off, have a full makeover then a session thats all about you - I'm here for it! The quirkier the better. I love to have fun during sessions and work with clients to create something as unique and beauty-filled as they are. Let's embrace this perfectly imperfect life.
